Ia Kutateladze
Ia is a multidisciplinary designer and artist based in Berlin. In IAAI studio, she works on different materials, creating functional and non-functional, explorative objects.
Through objects, she connects personal, emotional and psychological processes with the material form, which is often experimental. Different personal occurrences are turned into physical objects and shapes in her practice. Initially starting in a traditional product design workflow, she felt compelled to reevaluate her whole process when moving to Berlin.
Ia's creative workflow is all about playing with the objects, which later leads to new discoveries. Relying on intuition is key for her. Materials are often left untouched and raw. Other times, she experiments with mixing bold colors to create visuals and textual contrast. Something that has become one of her visual signatures.
